Viorel and the Dr. Christoph LampertBolocan Viorel, a young boy of 13 years from Moldavia, the poorest country in Europe, was invited with his mother and his family doctor to Switzerland to undergo an operation on the thigh bone.

The child had several operations on the hip in Moldavia and in Russia but without success. The result of those surgical operations was a shortening of the right leg of 2,5 cm.

The diagnosis was reduction of the collar of the femur on right-hand side, state of osteomyelitis after several interventions, increased trochanter.

The team from the Orthopaedic Surgery of the Hospital of St. Gall leaded by dr. Christoph Lampert carried out a successful operation of lengthening and correction.

After a week of hospitalisation and convalescence the very happy mother could bring back his recovered child to Moldavia.

As consequence of this humanitarian and medical success the Foundation is considering to continue the operations for children who haven’t got the possibility to be treated in a satisfactory way in their own countries.

The Foundation hopes to find generous sponsors for this purpose.
