A Delighted Mother, Dominique Rogeau,Dr. Herbert Schneider,Dr. Oleg Maurer, Dr. Nelly MatragunaLittle Corneliu Litiuc was born with multiple cardiac defects on the 21 st of March 2006. He originates from the Republic of Moldova (a former Soviet republic).
A Tetralogy of Fallot was diagnosed which shocked the destitute parents of Corneliu. They were not able to finance the indispensable and the very necessary operation for their son.

The mother and the baby came to Switzerland on the 27 th of August 2006 with an accompanying doctor, Mrs. Nelly Matraguna. The baby was brought to the Kinderspital Zurich for an examination and a further operation.

The diagnosis was confirmed: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) with subvalvular, valvular and supravalvular pulmonic stenosis, persistent foramen ovale (PFO).

The baby was cyanotic (acrocyanosis) with deterioration in exertion, showing the typical bluish discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes due to the oxygen deficiency in the blood. The operation was prepared and could be realised on the 30 th of August 2006, conducted by Dr. Ali Dodge-Khatami:
A total correction with a very short-patch (VSP) repair and a transanular patch enlargement, RV-PA monocusp expansion, RVOT myectomy, PFO with fenestration, PDA patch.

The intervention passed successfully and absolutely free of complications. The little patient recovered fast and could be released on the 15 th of September 2006 .

We sincerely would like to thank once again the complete operation team under direction of Dr. Ali Dodge-Khatami as well as all involved specialists of the Kinderspital Zurich. Their professionalism and courtesy motivates us to continue our activity.
